A few minutes before the missile attack on Iranian General Qassem Suleimani at the airport in Baghdad, the United States warned the Iraqi authorities of their plans. This was stated by Iraqi Prime Minister Abdul-Mahdi, Al Arabiya television channel reported.
According to Mahdi, Baghdad did not give Washington its consent for the attack. Mahdi added that he met with Soleimani on the day of his death.
The channel notes that the Iraqi Foreign Ministry will complain to the UN Security Council in connection with the murder of Soleimani and the Shiite commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
Earlier on January 5th, the country’s parliament decided to withdraw all foreign troops from its territory. Mahdi noted that now American helicopters and drones are in the airspace of the capital without official permission.
Qassem Suleimani was killed during a missile strike by American aircraft at Baghdad airport on the night of January 3. The order for his murder was given personally by President Donald Trump .
