Someone with a very limited music collection is determined to make the lives of the residents in Blockhouse Bay and Avondale hell.
A car is driving around blaring the hit song from Titanic, “My heart will go on” from speakers all hours of the night.
At first, people could not determine where the music was coming from, but later it emerged that a moving car was blasting it over loud speakers. The song was reportedly played in many streets in the quiet suburb.
One resident said it was particularly annoying as the song never plays to the end. It is played five seconds in, and then stopped and repeated. It happens at all hours of the night .
It seems as if police are unable to do anything, because according to Noise Control, the Resource Management Act did not allow Auckland Council to take action if the vehicle was being driven on the road.
If instead the vehicle was parked next to the road, a notice for excessive noise could be served. However, the police spokesperson did say that they realise how disturbing such a noise can be and they do patrol areas where such activity is known to take place.
