The Idaho Statesman’s editorial on Jan. 15 says, “Idaho politicians have had their share of dark moments over the years, including Sen. Monty Pearce’s failure to disclose his oil interests before voting on new laws governing the petroleum industry.”
Interesting, however, is that the newspaper forgot to mention that a bipartisan ethics panel cleared Pearce of any wrongdoing. So what’s so dark about that? And why did the newspaper tie Pearce’s totally ethical behavior to such infamous events as former Sen. John McGee’s arrest and inappropriate conduct involving a Senate staffer?
There’s nothing dark about what Pearce did in the 2012 legislative session, but something very dark about the newspaper’s recounting of events from that year.
