Study says NIC contributes 2.7 percent to regional economy

North Idaho College (NIC) in Coeur d’Alene is worth 2.7 percent to the regional economy, according to a story in the Coeur d’Alene Press. In dollars, that is $164.6 million.

At a cost of $8,500, school officials contracted with a Moscow-based company (Economic Modeling Specialists, Intl.) for an economic assessment that the school plans to share with the community and legislators to demonstrate the value of the two-year school to the region.

According to the story, EMSI looked at the school’s value to students and taxpayers as well as the school’s economic impact on the area.
