North Idaho town requires permit to raise money on city property

An 11-year-old Coeur d’Alene girl and her mother decided July 4 would be a good day to visit a local park to try to raise $110 for the Kootenai Humane Society. The girl played her violin and sang songs and had raised $42.88 when a city employee put a stop to the activity, according to a story in the Coeur d’Alene Press.

The girl did not have a city permit. The city requires one, it says, to keep track of what is going on within city property. The permit is free.
