Idaho inmates headed to Colorado due to overcrowding

A private prison in Colorado has agreed to take up to 768 medium security male inmates to ease prison overcrowding in Idaho, says a story in the Coeur d’Alene Press.

The Idaho Department of Corrections reports that its inmate number is more than 8,000, with 500 prisoners added to the population in the last year. The state is expected to send 450 inmates to the Colorado facility during July and August.

So … the first question that comes to my mind is how many “non-violent” prisoners are there in the State and County jails. WHY AREN’T they released to overcome the over crowding in the prisons. the private prisons in Colorado are run for a profit. What’s wrong with this picture. The Land of the Free, and home of the uninformed, has more prisons and more prisoners than any country on the face of the earth. FEMA has over 850 “retention centers” … something is really WRONG HERE !!!!!!!!!!
