Funding formula, student fees now both causes of action in schools’ suit

An Associated Press story in the Idaho Falls Post Register says a lawsuit challenging student fees in Idaho has added another cause of action claiming that a 2005 Idaho Supreme Court decision is being violated in that the state is not providing an equal opportunity for students to receive a public school education.

Former Nampa school superintendent Russ Joki filed the original suit in Ada County challenging student fees, but now has added what he says is a violation of the court’s decision about what constitutes a fair public education funding distribution in the state.
