Former Idaho state senator sentenced to 90 days in jail

Former Idaho state Sen. John McGee, a Republican from Caldwell, Tuesday was sentenced to 90 days in jail by an Ada County magistrate judge, according to a story in the Spokesman-Review.

The sentencing came following two high profile incidents involving the former senator. One was a DUI incident, the other a charge of sexually harassing a state Senate staffer. An attorney for McGee and the Ada County prosecuting attorney’s office had worked out a plea agreement that would have sent McGee to jail for five days, but the judge rejected the plea bargain and handed down the harsher sentence.
