The battle over the Students Come First educational reform package passed by the 2011 Idaho Legislature won’t be resolved until three ballot measures are voted on in the November election, but the fight is already on, says a story in the Idaho Press-Tribune.
Opponents of the reforms say a laptop program is an unfunded mandate that will eventually cost schools millions of dollars. But the article points out that the Legislature did appropriate $2.5 million for the program. In addition, a spokesman for the state education department says the laws are now on the books in Idaho, thus requiring the state’s lawmakers to fund the program.

Laptops, good and bad teachers, to many liberal teachers/administrators run by unions that only care about collecting dues automatically, and the only question I have .. is what is being done with all the drop outs from high school and colleges?????????????
I watch Juan Williams program on schools the other evening I believe Idaho is behind in not using more lap top instruction. Teachers unions need to adapt . The program did stress motivated teachers. Good Teachers should be rewarded.
Parents should be involved. I support Tom Luna whole heartedly we need to improve and upgrade teaching methods.
Idaho students have improved. Lets make education intersting and fun for all students so that they can be confident and successful adults. Marie Eier *5 year old great grand mother,
