Hunters in Idaho have killed 164 wolves since the state’s first wolf hunt started last fall, according to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG).  Half of the 12 wolf hunting zones have closed after reaching their limit, and the sanctioned wolf season will close at the end of March.  The statewide limit is 220 wolves.  The last zone to close was the Middle Fork zone in central Idaho, according to an IDFG news release.  The Salmon zone, also in central Idaho, will close with one more kill.  The other five zones that are still open for wolf hunting have at least 30 percent of their limit left.

The latest data on Idaho’s wolf hunt, including the number of wolves killed by hunters, is available at the IDFG website.  Read an IDFG news release on the wolf hunt’s final month here.

164 beautiful wolves slaughtered by men (and at least two women) who are flaunting their wolf “trophies” all over the internet. Wolf pups and yearling wolves are among those killed. Hunters are using predator calls to fool wolves, because wolves are pack animals and respond to a sound of a hurt pup. Some sport.

The wolves have moved out of the wilderness and into our rural towns. Pets are being killed and school children stalked. Non ranchers are never compensated for losses (and neither are people recreating on public lands.)

It’s funny that we have to go about armed in our own yard so folks in the city can have that warm fuzzy feeling that “wolves are out there – somewhere” – ya, as long as they are not in YOUR back yard, right? Would people feel all warm and fuzzy when they hear wolves howling from the local school yard at night?

Hey TLM…..please post the incident reports of the killings of the pets and the news reports of the kids/people that have been stalked or killed in Idaho since 1995. I need to read about these incidents and see the proof myself. Thank you
