Idaho Gov. Butch Otter met Wednesday with officials from a Florida-based company planning to open a call center in Twin Falls in a building abandoned by Dell Computers last year.  C3, which stands for Customer Contact Channels, said it will hire 900 workers, which is more than the 500 jobs created by Dell at the site.

The governor said economic development agencies at the state and local levels helped sway C3 officials to choose Twin Falls over locations in other states.

Otter said that state and local groups have been meeting since last fall to find a business to set up shop in the facility after Dell left.

C3 said it will begin hiring and training workers immediately, and that starting wages will range from $8.50 to $11.50 an hour.

The governor said the new jobs could drop Twin Falls’ unemployment rate more than one percentage point from the 8.2 percent rate reported in June, and that re-opening the facility is good news for the whole state.

C3 said in a news release that the College of Southern Idaho will offer training assistance at the call center and the Idaho Department of Labor will help the company find qualified job applicants.
