State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna joined forces with former Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne in showing support for Republican Vaughn Ward, a candidate for Idaho’s 1st Congressional District. Luna and Kempthorne spoke at Ward’s official announcement rally at the Capitol in Boise on Tuesday. The pair will also serve as honorary co-chairs for Ward’s campaign.
Ward worked as a constituent services officer under Kempthorne during the former governor’s days in the United States Senate.
Superintendent Tom Luna’s speech:
Former Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne:
Ward will face state Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Eagle, in the May GOP primary and the winner of that contest will face Democrat Walt Minnick in the general election in November.
