Gov. Butch Otter released the following media advisory Thursday afternoon:

Please join Governor Otter and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Director Nancy Merrill at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 22nd, in the Governor’s Ceremonial Office at the Capitol for an important announcement about Parks and Recreation management.

Who: Governor Otter and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Director Nancy Merrill.

What: An important announcement about Parks and Recreation management.

When: 11 a.m. Friday, January 22nd.

Where: The Governor’s Ceremonial Office, Idaho State Capitol, Boise.

In his state budget address, Otter recommended merging parks and recreation with the Department of Lands and selling the Parks and Recreation Headquarters Building.  But reports this week suggest the parks department may survive.

IdahoReporter will provide coverage of Otter’s announcement Friday.

Otter also released an official statement Thursday linking the successes of the Boise State University and University of Idaho football teams to the economic fortunes of the state universities and all of Idaho.  Read his column here.
