Trevor Grigg, Student Body President at Boise State University, announced his campaign bid for the Idaho House of Representatives Friday on the Capitol steps.
Grigg will run as a Republican and will likely face Democrat Phylis King, serving her second term as the Representative for District 18, seat b, which covers sections of south Boise.
In his first campaign address to a crowd estimated at 50 people, Grigg said he would avoid tax increases and work to shrink the size of government. He said that as a younger legislator, he would be able to effectively plan for the future and help avoid looming budget difficulties.
State Reps. Marv Hagedorn, R-Meridian, Joe Palmer, R-Meridian, and Steve Thayn, R-Emmett, stood behind Grigg as he spoke to the crowd.
Here is what Grigg had to say following his speech:
Grigg is seeking an undergraduate degree at BSU and expects to graduate in Spring of 2011. He has served two terms as the Student Body President of BSU, a feat that has only been accomplished twice in the school’s history. You can visit his campaign website here. Good luck Trevor!
You’ll do a great job!
In no way is Trevor Grigg qualified to serve in any office. Grow up some first Trevor, put a lid on your ambition, if you can. Trevor was student body president at BSU, skilled at campaigning — “chalking” sidewalks with cutesy slogans, smoozing college kids, completely cynical about the intelligence of the students. During his time liberalism came to own BSU, Trevor could or would do nothing. Similarly, the college republicans was headed by Trevor. A timid, defeatist, apathetic — dead organization, completely flummoxed by a few campus liberals who hustle and repeating – Own the campus.
Trevor is not a leader, is not capable of inspiring conservative action from the people. Actually seeming to be in contempt of action outside of getting him elected.
Trevor has what he wants – a political resume – on track to achieve his political ambitions. Kids like this are nauseating. Can you say John Kerry in Vietnam?
Trevor is a mormon and probably all the politicians backing him are also mormons. Shame on all of them. They deserve the contempt with which non-mormon conservatives hold them in. Whether they have the courage to admit it, or not.
Ed,
While I cannot comment on your opinions of Trevor’s tenure at BSU or your take on his political ambition, I can ask that you avoid bigotry in our comment sections. The religious affiliation of elected officials or those running for office is not proper fodder on our site, unless you can show direct and specific evidence that a certain religion would somehow prevent that elected official or candidate from governing effectively.
So, in short, be nice.
Ed,
I laugh at your ignorance. If you knew half of what Trevor has accomplished you would cower into the rat hole you crawled out of to post your comment. Had Trevor not been in office, so much additional money would have been wasted. He and his administration have vetoed countless frivolous spending attempts. He proposed massive cuts in spending so as to reduce student fees, but our Furer Bob Kustra over ruled it and only allowed a measly $20 to be cut from student fees.
Now, on the Mormon comment you made. You really should verify your facts before opening that hole you call a mouth. Yes, Trevor is a Mormon, and yes, Trevor has Mormon legislators backing him, but the majority of the legislators endorsing him are NOT Mormon.
If you have a problem with Mormons, you are in the wrong state my friend. And I am more than willing to pay your one way ticket out of here.
